The Maritime Museum of Ílhavo

mmi-1.jpgThe MMI has four permanent exhibitions of maritime character, all unique and endowed with rich collections that are part of the museum patrimony.
In the main floor there are the most emblematic exhibitions: the Cod-fishing room/Capitão Francisco Marques, dedicated to the cod line-fishing with dories, and the Lagoon room, dedicated to the agro-maritime labour of the Aveiro lagoon.
In the first floor there are the third and fourth permanent exhibitions: the Seas room, memory of the Portuguese discoveries, of the involvement of the local people as well as the role that the cod fisheries played in it, and finally, the Sea shells room.
