The dory, the small hero of codfish fishing, who bravely faced the North Atlantic, will be the focus of the nautical modeling course that the Ílhavo Maritime Museum will promote, in collaboration with TEAM (Truques & Engenhocas Associação Modelismo), from May 29 to July 31.
Naval modeling is as old as human history, and there are models made more than 4000 years ago. The purpose of a naval model was to predict what the ship would look like after it was built. Nowadays, the construction of these models has a recreational nature and is one of the ways to preserve the history of shipbuilding and the vessel itself.
In this course, the construction of replicas is done to scale and as faithful as possible to the original model.
