2nd Anniversary CIEMar-Ílhavo

The CIEMar-Ílhavo, subunit for research, documenting and entrepreneurship of the Maritime Museum of Ílhavo, opened in 2012 celebrates its second anniversary. Its mission was planned with the ambition to innovate, not being common in most museums, there is a research center open to the outside and oriented for entrepreneurship. Of all this consists the CIEMar-Ílhavo, which today is widely recognized as a place of culture, research and innovation where researchers, archivists, scientists and entrepreneurs work. A diversity that is completed to promote development for the city of Ílhavo in their own way, starting from the cultural memory to value creation. Its second anniversary is marked with the release of the second number of the the CIEMar Bulletin, a digital publication for sharing the research results on the heritage that lives in the Museum and its reference territory and where are reported the activities that CIEMar-Ílhavo promotes throughout the 2014. In order to stimulate scientific and cultural studies related to maritime cultures, on a national scale, has been created in 2012 the Prize Octavio Lixa Filgueiras, which now has its second edition. 
The program is completed with the opening of a multimedia exhibition, "Boats of Portugal", which results from a careful research and adds important and educational contents to the permanent exhibition of the Seas Gallery. Also unlosable, the screening of a film about Creoula, a documentary by André Valentim Almeida, partly inspired by the work of heritage recreation that the Museum has been developing.
