On August 8, the MMI celebrates its foundation, which took place in 1937. This year the special program we offer integrates more and better the Ship-Museum Santo André, making the best use of the context of the Cod Festival and the space that it occupies in the Oudinot Garden. In the Museum, day 8 is open day and the public will have many reasons to visit us: special visits to the museum stocks and collections, discovery of the Codfish Aquarium, watching how the codfish live and learn about their habitat.
At night, in the salting hold of the Ship-Museum Santo André, will be presented a book of history and memories of the ship, a monography not to be missed on a ship with a soul. The session includes a moment of sharing of materials collected in the Maritime Sound Heritage project, coordinated by Tiago Pereira. Yesterday as today, the intangible heritage of cod fishing projects the history of the Museum and guarantees its future.
