International Day of Museums 2018

2018/05/18 a 2018/05/20
Site 1 772 2500 1 772 9999

Celebrating the International Day of Museums means opening the Museum to the public and sharing with it the various dimensions of museum work. The program that the Museu Marítimo de Ílhavo offers on May 18, 19 and 20 reaffirms this purpose and presents innovative proposals. In addition to several educational service activities, including a creative writing workshop, MMI celebrates its collections and the singularity of its most emblematic heritage with the presentation of the project Sonorous Maritime Heritage, directed by director Tiago Pereira. This inclusive way of discovering new immaterial patrimonies related to cod fishing joins other initiatives of culture of the sea directed to diverse publics. The main highlight is the opening of the exhibition of Alfredo Cunha, A Night at the Sea, an extraordinary photography work on sardine fishing, a little work given to epic approaches and whose human universe the MMI has never before approached. The presentation of the catalog of the exhibition and the presentation of a great book of cultural history of the seas, by John Mack, complete a succulent schedule.
